Financial Aid

Introduction

Please review the attached slides provided by Lindsey Truitt, Senior Counselor, Financial Aid from the Pathway Accepted Student Day for an overview of federal financial aid options at the College of Medicine - Phoenix.

We recognize what an important role financial aid plays in helping you to pursue an education.  Here are several next steps you can take to prepare to receive financial aid funds:

Make sure you have filed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Pathway Scholars Program is divided into four "sessions" for the year, Summer - starting in July, Fall - starting in August, Spring starting in January, and Summer 1, starting the following May/June. Please see the Bursar's Office website to review the tuition amounts associated with each.

If you need financial assistance while attending the Pathway Scholars Program, you will need to apply by submitting:

  • The 2023-2024 FAFSA is for Summer 2024. The 2023-24 FAFSA will require your 2022 tax information.
  • The 2024-2025 FAFSA is for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. The priority deadline for financial aid is May 1, 2024.
  • If you have reached out to the Financial Aid office and have not heard back from them, please reach out to the PSP team for further assistance.

*2024-2025 FAFSA FORM UPDATES

The Department of Education is updating the FAFSA in 2024-25. Please be sure to review the below updates if you have not yet filed.

Start with your FSA ID

Students must register for an FSA ID to complete and sign the online 2024-2025 FAFSA. Your FSA ID now requires a two-step verification process.

The 2024-25 FAFSA will require your 2023 tax information and we recommend using the Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool (formerly known as the IRS Data Retrieval Tool) if you filed tax returns.

Instructions for using the Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool can be found on the Student Aid website.

School Search

When completing your FAFSA, please select University of Arizona in the School Search by indicating Arizona (AZ) as the state and Tucson as the City – or – Search by School Code using Federal School Code 001083. There is no specific school code for the College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Providing Consent to Transfer Tax Information

The FAFSA will still require tax information from the prior year. For 2024-2025 it will pull in 2023 tax information. To be eligible for federal student aid, students and contributors must provide consent to have their federal tax information (FTI) transferred directly into the FAFSA from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Providing consent even applies to contributors who do not have a Social Security Number, did not file 2023 taxes, or who filed taxes outside of the United States. Tax data will be automatically transferred directly from the IRS into your application, streamlining the process and reducing the number of questions you will be required to answer. Please be aware that you, and your FAFSA contributors, will not have the ability to see or modify the FTI when completing the FAFSA online. The student and all contributors must provide this consent and approval on the FAFSA to be eligible for federal student aid.

Change to Who Qualifies as a Contributor

For students with a spouse, a new term on the 2024-2025 FAFSA is a contributor. A contributor is anyone who is required to provide information, a signature, and consent to have their federal tax information (FTI) transferred directly into the FAFSA. Beginning with the 2024-2025 FAFSA Form, all contributors must create their own FSA ID to access and complete their portion of the FAFSA form. Contributors will each log in to the FAFSA separately with their own FSA ID account, then they will complete their own section and answer questions that only they can view. All contributors must provide their financial information and will be required to sign the FAFSA.

You will receive additional information regarding next steps via email directly from financial aid staff. You will also receive an email to review your financial aid awards as soon as they are prepared. The process of awarding aid continues through the summer months and remains tentative until finalized after course registration. Please be aware that May/June is the Financial Aid office's highest volume time and they will do their best to respond quickly.

Please review the financial aid website for further information.
